First Post of my Third Year Blogging

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I had a very nice teacher interview me about effective lesson planning.  It’s cool having 4 blogs on different subjects so I can meet people all over the spectrum.  Thanks to Dorit, a true mentor teacher, for the opportunity to share my thoughts. Now on to the post of the day …

It’s Sunday night and I find myself sitting in my Papasan across from my wife Sarah on her couch.  We are both computing in some way.  She is making patterns on Photoshop for scrapbooks etc. and I of course am blogging this.  This picture is normal of course.  More or less it is what you’ll catch us doing in the evening hours.  After I finish this I will go upstairs and tickle the kids, maybe have a snack and in a few hours we’ll all be sleeping.

The reason I am explaining all this is not because any of it is important.  The thing on TV is what is important.  She’s watching an interview with the writer of Twilight.  Did I mention she’s now seen the movie 4 times and read the trilogy in 2 days?  In case you thought my wife was obsessed with this movie, now you can set your mind at ease: SHE IS COMPLETELY GONE LOL.  Soon her car and our house will be filled with all the promotional products you can imagine.

Hey, if teenage vampire movies it make her more amorous in the bedroom, I won’t gripe.  Oh one thing, did you know the girl “Bella” from Twilight is the little girl actress from Panic Room?  Those eyes are unmistakeable.

This post has been a slice of time, a representative of what my life is, through words, the first post in what I hope will be my third year at blogging.  Thanks for reading.

2 Years Now in the Blogosphere

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

I had a really neat moment tonight. Recently you may have seen I put GTalk links in my sidebars on all the blogs. My intent was to connect in real time with people reading my blogs. Tonight a guy from Japan sent me a message on GTalk and we had a brief conversation where he told me he was listening to and finding inspiration from my new podcast I call D-Cast. This was so great to hear. If you are a blogger working at your craft in silence, hang in there … often people are listening!

This week marks the anniversary of 2 years blogging. It’s been an amazing ride with ups and downs and ins and outs. I feel excited going into year three. I wanted to let all my readers know I recorded a podcast message reflecting on what I ran across in the past two years. Feel free to check it out. Thanks for reading and listening through the years. I am getting into this podcast stuff. In a way, the power of audio to a blogger is like air tools to a woodshop artist, quite powerful.

Repairing the Colloseum

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Well follks, it finally happened to me.  I had a complete blog crash, this one.  I had a backup but only up to last month.  That means I lost everything after 10-6-08.  That included advertising posts that I had already been paid for so I am frantically working to get them all back up from memory.  If you are an adveriser with me, please be patient my hope is to restore them all tomorrow but my commitment is to get them all back by the weekend.  To my general readers, thank you for enduring this awful message.  Bills are bills but it will be back to fun tomorrow!  Aside: Remember to back up your database a lot.  When you have to call moving services to move your house, it’s kind of pointless if you have no backup to migrate!.

Out Here in the High Desert Elements

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Youe see a lot of odd structures out here in the High Desert of California. Of course there are the cookie cutter suburbs with occasional carports added on. But out in the boonies you see everything from beautiful horse ranch property to dilapidated shacks that have dozens of curious appendages like old TV antennas and multiple satellite dishes. Even out there I see carports though. They are universal up here. It’s protection for your car or boat, or whatever. And they are very affordable.

Future Time Stamping Posts to Make Blogging Easier

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

There are some things in life like auto insurance that give us peace of mind. The fees are worth it as we live each day a little less worried, a little more at peace. Future time stamping your blog posts can have that same effect. Most blogging platforms will allow you to future date your post sp it comes up as assigned. Try it, you’ll find it to be quite freeing.
