Accept Everything is something I started doing last week and, consequently, I decided to tap the term into Google to see what came up. I came across this blog.
For me, accepting everything is about allowing all thoughts to flow through me without resistance. It does not mean I have to believe and stand by anything that bubbles up in my mind. Just not resist it. I’m finding this liberating – particularly for the things that come up and cause emotional pain. The pain seems to be caused by the resistance.

@mantiz: As I said, it's an idea I used to scoff at, but now I find it quite peaceful to accept it, the idea of accepting EVERYTHING.

nice post, real inspiring one. I’ve felt the same way too many times too. sometimes it’s just better to go on and accept things for what they are. I just wish some of these people would understand that! *sigh

Damien, I love your second point. The way in which we handle ourselves in humble situations, such as low paying or low status jobs, shows a lot in my view about our character, and whether we can be trusted or relied upon in a higher paying or higher ranking position. @Mongo22: Thanks for commenting Brian. This is my favorite post of the year. It got a lot of visits and I really believe in the message. Some people have a hard time with the title “Accept Everything” but the more I process it and go through life the more I think it’s the best advice there is.

You should have the job that pays your bills and makes you most happy. Personally I would go insane as a pharmacist, teaching fits me though while it might drive you nuts so to each his own!

Hope to talk more in 2009!

Great post. I really like your advice of accepting what comes to us. I have pharmacy tech experience and IT experience (with an IT degree) & when I couldn't find an IT job, I turned to pharmacy. After an almost 6 month layoff, I'm going to treat my pharmacy job like it's an $80K job and really appreciate those who hired me. I've had friends & family who really want me to cash in from my degree in IT & have questioned why I'm going to work at the pharmacy. To me it's about more than the money. @Gabriel - Gadfly Revolution: The word "everything" is the stinger. But I really do try and do it. @Zentastic: Thanks for saying that. Acceptance of those around us as well as circumstances is really hard. @K. Fields: I had that initial trouble but now, like ten years later after hearing that advice, I feel like I can't lose by following it.

I am not so sure about accepting everything as an answer. Because not everything is acceptable. Sometimes we have to figure that out for ourselves tho! Very good post! Causes something to think about! :)
