Big Ones

Aerosmith named their greatest hits album “Big Ones.” I’m stealing it for this post on my most visited writings.

People visit posts for a number of reasons. It can be as a result of a valid or invalid search. It can also be as a result of “click through” ads. A person can often visit a post on accident. Most the time however, we click on permalink posts on purpose. We want to read these articles. That’s why pageviews are so helpful to a site owner in determining content value. Thanks to you, I’ve had some big big posts here on Postcards. I thought it might be fun to post them. In the same breath however, I should say that these are certainly not my “best work” by my standards. Sometimes the best work doesn’t get visited. There is something valuable though to the posts that draw the most clicks and thereby the most people. Who cares? Advertisers. I’m always seeking to bring back posts from my past that I think have value for you. As far as “clicks” go, these are the top ten so far around here. While they aren’t providing the cash for travel deals to Ireland, they are making some of my more practical dreams come true.

Thats crazy bro, 33k pageviews for that single post, my highest single post only has like 1400 pageviews, is that your index page monthly, or is that your total for 9/08 to 04/09?

I know, that quotes page gets huge hits daily. Per the index: I assume that is total Pageviews for the time period specified. All those results came up in a query using the date range I listed. The reason I chose 9/08 as a start date is because I changed my GA tracking to the www at the prefix then (as you recall). There are more visits dating back as far as 12/06.

It’s funny sometimes how the posts you think are the “best” don’t become the most popular. But it’s always amazing to realize how many lives and people you’ve been able to touch in just a short time!
