Blog Safari" />
A blog safari is a set of links I run across in the week that are in the category of “online diary.” They are all noteworthy and good reads. I give each in the Safari a much deserved Stumble. I recommend you do the same if you like them. Online diarists always appreciate that ;)
Moving the Weight
This post discusses the “dare-I-speak” conundrum we bloggers get into as our audience grows. If you have an online diary, read and leave your 2 cents in the comments. I’m subscribed and interested in your opinions.
Face-Off
I’ll tell ya, there are few online diaries that I respect like I do this one. Catatonic Kid has a way with words. Mostly she blogs on her battles with depression, but don’t assume it’s boring, far from it. It’s vivid, informative description and occasionally quite hilarious as this picture shows.
My Online Diary: Dropping EC
This is a great testimonial about Entrecard and dropping EC’s. I don’t hardly do it at all anymore. Most my points come from selling ads. I wish they could make dropping easier.
How Do I Start Blogging: Blogging can set you free
I so appreciate simple answers to difficult questions about blogging. These answers are not comprehensive, but the start blogging author has done a great job. This is an awesome post to email to someone starting a blog or who maybe is stuck finding vision.
Memex 1.1 & Blog Archive & Vital Statistics
From the page: “Google’s age: 10
Microsoft’s age: 33
Google’s revenue in the last 4 quarters: $19.6 billion
Microsoft’s revenue in the last 4 quarters: $60.4 billion”
Great factoids you will find interesting. I don’t like the way the comments are closed and the blog is a little too oversimplified for my taste. But I read a few really interesting factoids in this post so I am including it in the safari this week.
Kristen Brooke Beck: The Written Ramblings: Secrets of Successful…
From the page: “You can’t create creativity. You have to just open up your soul and let it all spill out, then clean up anything you don’t like. And whatever is left over, frame it. It’s now art.” Kristen has written some amazing words about art. She must be reading my diary. I’m becoming more and more of a fan of her stuff. Check it out.
Daisy the Curly Cat: Photo Hunters: String
Always a very funny blog read. DTCC is an online diary where pictures and stories of a cat are aplenty. With over 70 comments on this post, I think it’s pretty clear this blogger is doing the online diary thing right. Read this one.
One last note: Do you know of any online diaries that have closed? Do you have links to their closing posts? I find these fascinating and I am doing a personal informal study of them for my psychology blog. If you have any links to sites like these, please leave them in the comments
