Choosing Life Outside My Box

I remember a song by a Christian artist “Randy Stonehill” in the 80’s: “Stop the World, I Want to Get Off.”  After today and some things that happened I totally relate with that song.  Do you ever reach the point where you just never want to do anything extra for anyone ever again?  I have been so under-recognized for so many years I have gotten complacent and in some way I let people treat me this way.  I was looked over of an extra duty position at work today and I have to admit it really let me down.  This was true mostly because I knew I could do it better than anybody.  I knew I could help new teachers in the dostrict better than anyone … by far.  But how do you say that in an interview?  How do you make people realize what to you is as clear as the cleanest pane glass window.  Answer?  You can’t so you accept at as fate, God’s will, whatever your “box” is.  I’m a think outside the box guy, it’s too bad the panel wasn’t.

Like the Kinks say:

“Back to front.”

This has been a rare rant.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter if you’re the best candidate or not. Sometimes there’s a hidden agenda for promotions.

I’m one of those go the extra mile people, too, and this past week, someone totally took advantage of it. I don;’t think I’m at a point where I don’t ever want to do anything extra for anyone, but I will think about limiting it to certain people and/or circumstances.
