The Starbucks generation has invented many new pleasures. One has been an array of exotic chewing gum. Some pleasures have been borne out of a love for coffee, others came from the coffee house culture. Wrigleys chewing gum has been replaced as the top item. Trendy gum specifically came from the coffee-related nuisance of bad breath. Most people who drink a lot of coffee carry around gum in their “Abercrombie and Fitch” pockets and try out all sorts of delirious flavors that companies invent, over and over again.
I recall the brand “Wrigley” as synonymous with tasty gum. JuicyFruit chewing gum was my favorite as a kid. The Wrigley story is an amazing vision and worth reading if you have the time. Unfortunately, they don’t sell it sugar-free anywhere I can find. Recently at the dentist I was advised to use sugarless chewing gum. Apparently I have developed a dry mouth and chewing gum would help me. (TMI, I know my apologies) I don’t know why they haven’t made the classic gums into sugarless ones. My gum puts me in chewing gum orbit and it tastes just like Wrigley’s sugared gums. It’s a spearmint chewing gum.
There’s something that feels cool about having gum in my pocket or wallet. The wallet is better because it lessens the chance of my gum getting into a wash load. Now that I know it helps my “gums” to chew gum, I imagine I’ll be buying and trying a lot more. It is expensive, but I recommend buying it in bulk at Costco or even mail order to keep the cost down.
So, today … after your coffee … happy chewing as you play your role in the chewing gum market.
