How Age Changes My Perspective of Things

“The best things in life are not things.”

As I continue in this first year of my 40’s I am amazed literally almost every hour by how my perspective on things has changed and continues to. I remember being in high school and viewing teachers as old people that never did anything with their lives. In fact, I was cynical about anyone over about age 27. What was wrong with me? When I meet a younger person these days who is open to what I have to say and they actually listen I feel like awarding them something because they are going above and beyond their nature. I wish I would have been more of a listener in those years. Age can take you from:

  • Snickers bars to vitamin bars
  • Pumping iron to walking the treadmill
  • partying hard to hanging out with the kids
  • getting sunburned every weeked to using wrinkle cream

Aging is nothing to fear or be ashamed of but it is definitely something to marvel at. It really changes you, mostly in your perspective of things.
