@Heather: My personal journal is kept under my bed. But I understand and appreciate what you are saying :)

@Jena: I tell people all the time they don’t have to be an expert to make money on a niche blog. I am sure you have interest in a niche you could make money on. For example, my “Postcards from the Funny Farm” is on psychology which is a topic I have no background in other than a fascination with the human mind. That blog makes me over $100 a month. Of course, I make the most with my teaching blog so you are probably correct that authority/knowledge helps author income.

I see where you’re coming from Damien, but all people do not blog to generate a massive following. For many, myself included, just the action of writing personal thoughts and hitting the send button, sharing yourself that way with the world, is such an incredible release of stress.
