I’ll tell you I really apprecaite the job of District admin and Principals. They work hard to keep us up to speed with the curriculum and the standards. I also appreciate how they want us to set goals. The only problem I have with the goals they require is that they are such “micro management.” By that I mean we can’t just set a goal for 27/30 kids to be proficent or higher, we have to break it down into every standard possible. This gets so tedious that I seriously doubt most teachers use a lot of data and scholarly thought when they make all those sub goals.
I say the simpler the better. It would work better for teachers and the kids if we set a goal for math, language arts, and one other thing of our choosing. Then I have no problem with disaggregating the data by standard and applying goals to the low areas. The big goals should continue.
These are my ideas on micro management.
