Dad’s cookin! This week we are starting what my wife and I hope will be a long running family tradition: eating at the table once a week. You see, we usually eat different places while we watch TV. Our girls (2 and 4) sit at the table and our son (10) sometimes sits there. As for my wife and I we eat different places sometimes traveling multiple places and it just isn’t feeling right to us. Before I finish describing our new resolution I have a recommendation for you:
Families now more than ever need to be aware of insurance rates. Getting the best deal and saving money is crucial in this economy.
Okay, now back to the thing we are trying: Instead of going cold turkey and resolving to eat every meal at the table, we are starting small. We will eat as a family (just like Thanksgiving) at the table. We will say a prayer and seek to have “loving and civil” conversation. I imagine many of you are thinking: “Why the heck would they only do this once a week?” Well, we may do it more often but success in life happens with many small steps and rarely in single giant leaps. Do you think eating at the table is better for the family?

I 100% think family dinners are so important. My husband and I are pretty laid back in general, but that was one thing we both insisted on. When the kids were real little, it was more about cutting up food and making sure everybody ate, but as they got older and especially now as they are teens, it’s such an important bonding experience and sometimes the only chance we have during the day to really catch up with each other. The kids are all so busy now that it’s rare to have all 6 of us at the table every night, but dinner is something I look forward to every day! You’ll see…it will become something you’ll want to do every day!
I rememember growning up and we all ate together at the table nearly every night. I think it is a good thing and commend you on your decision to implement this at your house.
