You make a very good point about losing the comment. I wonder if there is a way I as the blog owner can make sure it is saved if that happens. You aways make great points Derek!

I’ve never been a big fan of the captcha, in part due to the issue mentioned where it is difficult to make out the numbers or letters. As a matter of fact, I too had to refresh the first one I saw right now as I couldn’t really make it out.

Another reason I tend to not like the captcha is that I forget to enter the word(s) before hitting submit. That will often lead to you losing your comment which can be quite frustrating.

The use of a captcha won’t prevent me from commenting on a site though. As a blogger I can certainly appreciate the fact that the site owner is trying to improve the authenticity of comments and reduce the overhead of checking spam.

Jessica, can you try the little arrow circle button (refresh) in the recaptcha box? Sometimes I need to do that when I use it. Please let me know if that clears it up for you. I appreciate your input as I try this … again.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can’t read the first set of words I am offered. They’re all jumbled up and blurry. I actually have to cut the text from my comment and then paste it into a second one before I have words clear enough to read.

Very strange. I’m sure it’s just me or else someone else would have piped in by now :) LOL

Thank you so much Katelyn. It’s nice to get outside verification of stuff like this. Since you are on .com you may not be able to run recaptcha. I simply suggest checking the Akismet spam daily or so. Thanks again.

Interesting, I haven’t checked my fliter for a while…I need to go do that!

It doesn’t bother me when people ask for comments, they just need to do it nicely. “Now go comment!” kinda bugs me, but “I’d love to hear your thoughts” is a great way of putting it!

I love the name of Recaptcha (: Makes me wanna say it over and over (:
