When I first started toying with Wordpress plugins back in November of 2006, a list like this would have been gold to me! There were so many that didn’t work right or didn’t work well enough, or didn’t fit my blog. I learned these 41 through hard trial and error. In fact, a few (not in this list) even knocked my site out for hours on end while I scrambled to reload everything. Of course the lesson there is: backup, backup, backup.

In all these things I still remember: “Content is king.” Plugins are mostly just cosmetic. There are some however in this list that I feel are CRUCIAL to my blog. Whether they keep it more fun or more functional, it doesn’t really matter, crucial is crucial and every individual knows what they require. I just wanted to share these that I love so maybe you can get some of these great plugins you may not know about under your hood.

If you have any questions about any of the plugins, read their files first, then you may contact me no problem. I’ve used and abused all of them! I’m actually running more than I link here . . . but I figured I had to keep the blog engine at least a little mysterious right? To all my WORDPRESS self-hosted friends and visitors: enjoy!

Those are fantastic, Damien! I was wanting the pullquotes (because I talk and talk and talk…). I’m also trying to figure out Google Analytics. Need to look into some of the other stuff you have. You know I admire your blog…
