Visiting the Skyline Drive-in Barstow is an excellent Summer activity for the family! Sarah and I are looking forward to taking ours there in the Summer of 2011. Find out more about the theater below these photos.

Since 2002, my family has been enjoying It’s fun packing the blankets and pillow into the van and visiting the Skyline Drive-in Theater in Barstow. It’s a great way to spend the evening. The Barstow drive in is a gem of a place that gives you a feeling of remote wonderment. Below are some facts about the place. If you are in the area, you should check it out.

1966 – opened
1987 – closed
1996 – reopened
2000 – 2nd screen added
2006 – new ownership
2006 – closed temporarily for renovations (Dec 4- Feb 2)
2007 – added flea market (May 6)

    A drive-in cinema would be perfect for us because I would not have to worry about Shelby acting up or disturbing other movie watchers! As it is, we rarely go to the movies, because we have to get a babysitter when we do. I wish there was a drive-in closer to our house.

    You can absolutely bring the kids. It’s neat when everyone sits in lawn chairs with their cars open because the sound comes through the radios and it’s like surround sound times 10.
