It can also provide a distraction from pain and learning to play an instrument has also proven to improve children's math and reading abilities. Besides all that, it's just plain fun! Since every culture has music, I've often wondered about some biological connection with it. Never been able to find an answer, because I'm sure there isn't one, but it's cool to think about.
