I've been having some troubles with Yahoo since last week. This morning, my YM automatically signed out. I didn't notice it doing so until I looked for the icon to IM a friend. When I signed back in, I discovered that there are some important email messages that need instant replies. This incident had been happening many times but I haven't been this irritated until now. Though changing my email address is not an idea that I like. So I'll just take a deep breath and smile. Maybe, I'll have some coffee next time my emails turn into
"dangling carrots." :)

That's a great idea. I have an account through Verizon but it is empty of tasks and calendar items that Google and Yahoo! offer. For now, I like the free web based services better. But I will take your suggestion into consideration.

Given the importance of your email to your life/situation, you certainly need a provider that is reliable. While i haven't heard of widespread problems with Yahoo, you need to do what is going to work for you.

Have you given thought to an account through your ISP? I'm not sure about Verizon in particular, but ISP accounts tend to be stable, reliable, and it's relatively easy to get support when needed.

Oh wow. Yes, very different than my own email circumstances. I would definitely choose the more reliable one then.

It sounds like you're being pretty reasonable to me. We vote with our feet and since they don't want to make themselves available for you to discuss your situation, looks like you should go elsewhere. You owe it to yourself and you owe it to your subscribers.

Not for me because I migrated back and forth a while back and all my addresses and stuff are itting at gmail. I think it's a better system actually. I just got "used to" Yahoo! Fat and lazy with it as I can see now. It's indeed a prefernce issue but those two days without Yahoo! were harder on Sarah and i than on most people. We get paid various amounts though email every day multiple times a day and we had to check BofA to monitor that. I of course get assignments all through the day via email which i couldn't access. Sarah gets mom messages from her Yahoo! groups regarding babysitting etc and was totally unable to get those. We had to drive down in front of Blockbuster video to get a different carrier wireless signal to finally check our mail. Yahoo! was the culprit it turned out so i'm going back to gmail, not because Yahoo! isn't good but gmail is more reliable.

I think glitches for a day or so infrequently can be expected. Yahoo, though, is hard to contact if there's a problem. I have a website hosted with them and it went down once. I couldn't find a way to contact them at all.

I agree, it's a total hassle changing e-mail addresses now.
