Some of you know me as the invisible blogger here and some of you know me a bit better than that. Probably only a few of you know me as Sarah Riley’s husband. Let me tell you that life with her is far more exciting than my best post getting picked up or any success in any other area of life as a teacher or otherwise.
She’s the BEST folks.
I have this blog called “Postcards from the Funny Farm” where I spend way too much time trying to make $5 (or less) for every 5 hours I spend there :) My wife is very supportive and helpful to my blogging “part time job.” We have been through so much together figuring out how to do it and why we do it and whether we should do it. All you see is the posts but there is a lot behind the scenes and Sarah is so instrumental in the great stuff I do here.
We also make blogs and slideshows for other people on occasion. She does the artwork through Photoshop and is an absolute genius with that. I do the coding/layout stuff and writing consulting.
If interested in consigning our services, let me know …we’re cheap,
but that isn’t why I am writing this post today. You see, this is the weekend of our 6th wedding anniversary (actual anniv. is 11/9/02) and I’m finding ways today to let her know she is very special to me. I thought, why not start with the thing I do the most and arguably the best (sad huh?) ;)
disclaimer: I am far from a perfect husband but I do play one here when I write about myself Be forewarned. ;)
I’ll tell you a funny bitterseet story that Sarah and I were reminiscing about the other day. When we started dating c.August 2002, we were at my apartment for one of the first times and she had parked her car halfway into my garage. Stupidly, I put the garage door down and it creamed her car, especially the fiberglass targa. So embarrassing and I felt so bad for her and her car. To make things better, I rented a truck with a cool cab in the back and we ended up driving to Sea World that weekend to forget about the car repairs underway. That trip ended up being the place we decided to get married. I’ll never forget how a faulty garage door and sea breezy air would one day turn into las vegas suites and a changed life.
I love you Sarah, you are my miracle I prayed for since I was 17, and I can’t wait for us to go out tonight!
To my readers: Consider this question, if you had a blog as cool as mine (LOL) and a family as cool as what you see below, would you feel lucky? If you’d like to visit Sarah’s blog she is also quite a writer and photo pro.

If I didn’t know how much you work, I would say you are very lucky.
But luck has nothing to do with it – especially the blog part – you fully deserve your wonderful wife and family. I think she is the lucky one.
Happy aniversary!

Hey I know this “chic” and she is the best. Your kids are also the BEST!!! Of course you are two of my favorite people who I know love me through all my crazy times right now.
For the big day just think simple and make it about the two of you. Take a moment to have something that is just about the two of you…this is from the sister who planned her sons birthday party on your Anniversary:) Anyways I would be happy to have the kids sun night if you want to hang out in the OC and share your roots with your wife.
Love you, congrats see you soon!
Meri
Thanks Kelly! 6 years down quite a few left to go (knock on wood!)
Thank you for confirming that Nick. Hope you have a great weekend.
Thanks Dorian! Sometimes I think I work too much, that’s where I need you to teach me some meditation techniques in your guestblog Monday ;)
Meri, so glad you made it over! We’ll talk about that Sunday night idea ;) This is my sister folks :)
You certainly have a reason to feel lucky and blessed. Your family photos really bring your writing to life. I too wouldn’t be much without my wife. She is my greatest support, encourager and editor. I can totally relate.
We are both lucky then!
Happy Anniversary ! :-)

First off, I want to congratulate Damien and Sarah on their6 year anniversary. Now, if you just happen to be looking for a new cause to support, you should check out why Derek is growing a moustache. I just hope that we get to see pictures of it before he shaves it off. If you’re in the mood to look at some pictures,
