Time With my Brother Today

Indeed I do have a brother.  We are 14 months apart.  When we were kids, people would often ask if we were twins.  Now we look quite a bit different.  This week/month/year couldn’t be busier for my family.  We just started trying Sarah working full time as a sub and the girls started in daycare.  In the midst of all this, I remembered I hadn’t spent time with my brother in forever.

He lives an hour and a half away so I suggested to him we meet halfway and do something.  He met me the next day (which was today) and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time.  We talked about things and people from when we were young and we talked about what’s going on now in our families and our work.  He’s a consummate vegan now so that really impressed me.  I have a hard time giving up soda for a short time much less steak and chicken.  The fact is though he’s in a lot better shape than me.  I’m sure his cholesterol levels are way lower and that his blood pressure is better than mine.  I’m proud of him.  Even though it’s just over a year I am his senior, I still think of him as my little brother.  I probably always will.

I want to schedule more time to see my brother.  I think we can get so busy and think we have all the time in the world to spend with our loved ones but the truth is we don’t and we really should make the time.

Have you spent time with your brother lately?

I have two sisters and no brothers. I love spending time with them and I am blessed to live close to one of them. I am impressed at the people both of my sisters have become. I am learning from them now!

@beeker: That’s so great. You can relate watching your siblings as adults, it’s great when you can be friends.
