Up With the Baby, Drive Thru Vasectomies, and Offending "for Money" Bloggers

11, 1, 3, and 5am: These are all the times I have gotten up with the baby tonight. She is so cute right now playing with her music toy, but I would love to be in bed! No such luck. A couple people here and there have commented on my mention on the blog that I’m getting fixed. Right now, and moments like right now are the reasons I cannot wait to have it done! I actually go in today for the final consultation before the procedure. Trust me, if they did drive through vasectomies I would be THERE dude!

I’ve had mixed responses to my anti social networking post. I apologize if I offended anybody. My main point with that post was just to show that you don’t HAVE to put buttons for the services on your site to network. I gave three ways to network just as well on your own and even mentioned in the post clearly that I was not judging anybody for using them. Still, I think it’s difficult when something you felt was the set-in-stone right way to do things gets challenged. The fact of the matter is that we do too much seo and too much bannerizing on blogs these days. I understand if you are a “John Chow” follower or that sort of a blog seeking to get paid for your blogging, but many (like millions of us) of us are not about that.

I’ve always thought that you can learn something from everybody if you open your mind. Maybe my post could help monetized bloggers see that less can be more and that they might focus on content over social networking and find their profits and traffic increase in a more legitimate, lasting way. But to those who have been offended (I have a sense there are some out there reading my comments and comments on sites linking to my post): No worries, you do what you do, and I’ll do the same . . . and ne’er the twain shall meet! I wish you luck in your blogging. I find the medium amazing with or without monetization.

Okay, baby is crying again, time to walk around and sing Beatles songs.

One time I was moaning to my mom about being up all night with one of the babies. She said to look at it this way…Yes, I was up all night, but at least I knew the baby was fine and where she was. Imagine being up all night when your teenager (it was my sister, I swear!) stays out all night, doesn’t call and you have no idea where she is!

Unlike my mom, I now have technology on my side which is why I’ve activated the GPS locators on all of my kids cell phones. They don’t know that, of course, but I do :) Hmmmmmmm…..I was stumped on a Thursday Thirteen, but I think your post here just inspired me! :)

I’ll have to see how you do that when my 9 year old starts “going out!” Couldn’t they fake it?

Damien, lately my “baby” has been my blogs as my kids are usually sound asleep and I’m still sitting here typing away and reading all the sites in my RSS reader.

Just wanted to say that I for one appreciate and enjoy reading different opinions and thoughts on various topics. Throughout my 31 years I have learned to value everyone’s opinion as sometimes you learn the best lessons in the unlikeliest of places.

Sometimes I think the the time away from the blog makes the blog better more than the time at the blog! It’s a great hobby, and maybe even a side job in your case (wishing you much luck with all those experiments!!!). I’m 38 and started studying English in college at 23. When I was about your age, I had earned a Master’s in it (you wouldn’t know it from my lousy search and plunk typing skills). So for me, I see blogging from the eyes of a teacher and student of language. if there were a way to make money on it that way, i’d be on the bandwagon big time!!! Thanks so much for the blogroll add. I’ve been proudly presenting your blog on mine for some time now (what too ya so long???) Totally kidding brother. Spend some time with those kids today . . . i’ll do the same!
