I just read an incredible prompt over at Angela Maiers blog. If you had only 2 minutes to teach, what would be the most valuable lesson you would offer. This is an exercise in creative teaching. My comment and answer to what I would teach if I only had two minutes is below. Scroll past the ad:
“Producing a podcast, I have found out just how long two minutes can be. Indeed it is enough to teach a lesson. If I only had two minutes to teach a lesson I would teach the concept of highlighting and underlining text while reading. Reading is everything in education. I would model it and then guide their practice as they followed through. If they can get that skill in two minutes, it will benefit their life-long learning.”
Go over and read her posts and comment there or here. I’m looking forward to your answers to this thought-provoking question. Her prompt is over at Angela Maiers blog

I don’t currently use that method (highlighting/underlining), but I feel it is a very important tool to have, and one I should use more often. A lot of information presented in various posts or text is useless. Well, they have a use, to “set up” the real important information, which is what would be highlighted. The only downside to this is if you are not fully knowledgable about the topic, you might miss some important “setup info” leading into that important information.
