What Would You Ask Me in an Interview?

Turn on the emergency light I’ve been asked to be interviewed on the Duke Fightmaster Show this Friday night (1-9-09). I need your help assembling questions.  In the request I was told:

The interview lasts about 7 minutes, and you can tell me if there are any specific questions you want to make sure you are asked.

Show

This left me with a very puzzled feeling.  What questions would I want to be asked? The purpose of my appearance is to discuss blogging and podcasting.  I find those topics very exciting but also HUGELY VAST IN SCOPE.  I have to narrow them down to name the most relevant and interesting questions that I would like to be asked.  Needless to say, I have my work cut out for me.

My 7 minutes can be based on my own questions so I should probably think of some.  The average hit song is 3-4 minutes.  That means this will be the duration of about 2 songs … that is a long time to listen to me talk!  How can I make the questions meaningful and relevant.  Oh yeah, how can I make them interesting too?

I’m enlisting your help out there. Anyone reading this is invited to help.  I’m tagging the following people since I really respect their opinion.  Once I finish the interview, I will post the video here.  If you contribute I’ll email you a link.  Finally, just to make it interesting for you … the commenter who provides the best question (in my opinion) will get a month of free advertising on my site as well as a mention in the interview itself.

Thanks in advance!  I’m tagging a few people for a response (preferably by Thursday!):

Derek , Blue Fur , Justin , Isabella , Brian , Ginger , Chelle , Shelly , Nick … did I miss you?  Please chime in one and all!

How about the big one: What made you want to start a blog and become a blogger?

@Dragon Blogger: Excellent. I will consider it. Here’s the ones I came up with so far to choose from:

    1. Why do you blog?

    2. About how many readers do you have?

    3. Do you have a podcast? What’s the name and what is it about?

    4. How does one go about starting a blog?

    Hmm…that’s a toughie…and like you said blogging is a pretty vast subject…

If I had a similar show, I’d probably ask you questions such as:

What are you blogging about? And why those topics?

What kind of reactions do you get from people when you tell them you’re a blogger?

What’ the typical day in the life of Damien Riley like?

What’s the best thing about being a blogger? The worst?

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

Hope that gives you some ideas and you have a great interview Friday!

Here’s the few I could think of for now:

    1. How many hours/day do you dedicate to blogging?
    2. What’s the “big plan” for your blog, if you have one?
    3. What’s the most difficult thing about blogging?

And I’m really interested in the question posted by Chelle too:
“What kind of reactions do you get from people when you tell them you’re a blogger?”

Ok, I’m not sure about the audience for this show, but from what I can tell, most of the audience probably doesn’t know much about blogging and such so:

Question: why should I give a damn about blogging, podcasts, and what you are about to say? Give me a reason to pay attention to you.

after convincing them that it is a worthwhile activity (can help them gain exposure, make money, or whatever) here is a question they will have:

How would I go about getting started in blogging? What will I need to get/do and how much is it going to cost? What about podcasts? What is required to start one of those and the costs involved in that?

-Answer with: it is cheap and easy to get going on – webhosting, domain name, wordpress….

Another one: What does your wife (or wife and family) do while you’re busy on the computer working on your various websites and blogging?

If I think of some more I’ll be sure to come back and post them. Otherwise, best of luck on the interview!
