What follows is a tumblelog style conversation between myself and the office at the school I work.  The names are fictional but based on the event exactly as it happened:

Phone: Hi, this is the office, is Jeanette there? Her parents are here, she has to go home.
Me: No, she’s at recess.
Phone: Oh ok.
PAUSE
Phone: Mr. Riley, Jeanette is not on the playground
Me: Oh, let me run around and see if she’s in one of the classes.
RUN RUN RUN
Me: (saying to kid on playground) “Where’s Jeanette?”
Kid: She’s right there (points)
Me: Oh my gosh, why did they say she wasn’t on the playground? Ok.  Go tell her run to the office, her parents have been there a while.
——3-4 minutes later
Phone:  “Did we find Jeanette?”
Me: Uhhh yeah, on the playground.  I don’t know why the aides outside said she wasn’t there but okay, thanks.  I hang up.
Knock knock — I go to the door Guess who???
Jeanette: Do you need me Mr. Riley?
Me: NOOOOO go to the office your parents are waiting!!!!!
Jeanette: I have to get my backpack.
Me: Get it quickly and go, run! (she gets it with 4 f her friends like a snaiiiiiiil)
Phone:  Mr. Riley, is she coming, how long? Her parents are in a hurry.  They hang up.
Me: She is on her way. (I realize they didn’t hear me talking because they hung up mid sentence).

ugh

Wow, cool layout! Kids…I had a similar experience on Monday. My hubby and I coach ball hockey and one of the kids waltzes in TWO PERIODS late, casually dawdling. I’m like “Um, maybe you should hurry and get your jersey on.”, “oh, yeah”. He waddles over to get it on, I rand over, “Do you have a helmet here?”, “oh, uh…yeah.”, “Do you have your stick?”, “Um, I think so”. Seriously. I sympathize with you (:
