- Google Says to Not Bother With PageRank
- Why My Blog Has a Visible PageRank of Zero
In this series I address questions of PageRank. Most specifically, why 2 of my sites were taken from PR3 and PR4 to PR0. I’ll keep the series open in case I have further relevant info to share with you regarding Google PageRank. For now, the question has been answered conclusively. I have to apologize to Marcia since she had the cause guessed and I dismissed it in the previous post ;) I’ll provide you all with the forum link at Google where my question was answered, but suffice it to say:
My two blogs (this one and Postcards from the Funny Farm) were reduced to a PR0 because I perpetually accept payment for links in my posts. They call it “selling links.”
My SERP is unaffected. Google sets the visible PR in the toolbar to zero to discourage the practice of link selling.
My traffic, feed subscribers, and backlink counts have never been higher. I am glad to know the reason my visible PR in the Google toolbar is zero. I will breathe much easier now as I use my PayPal card for the links I sell in the articles that I write. I’ll be using a new acronym to gauge my success but watch for that in a later post. I also have removed my Firefox extension showing a PageRank toolbar. It is useless, almost even to Google so why should I look at it? Good riddance.

On my NYC blog, http://LiViNgInThEnYc.blogspot.com, my PR went from 1 to 0 then the other day it went to 2. Now, it’s gone again. I do have affiliate links in there, but obviously they are not paid until someone buys something!!! I don’t get it. Google doesn’t want people to make a living off the internet?
Very interesting post Damiel.I can’t agree to you more. As long as your earning from your blogs, darn the Google Toolbar.
Thanks Again
