A couple times I tried to access my blogs on my cell phone and the result was quite frightening. The photos were just as large as they were on my sites and I wondered about how I might make the sites more “mobile friendly.” My solution tonight has been to install and configure Wordpress Mobile Pack. This is how it renders now on the iphone (much better!)
Out of the three I checked out, this plugin worked the best. Of course, it isn’t perfect but it still offers access to my blogs without taking forever to load. I think everyone who is serious about blogging should configure it somehow, whether through a plugin or browser detection, to render a mobile friendly blog if an iPhone or android, etc. tries tuning in. It seems the future of the web is going the way of the mobile phone. If you want to capture all the readers you can, mobile’s now a piece of the pie. So far, most phone emulators return something like this.
You can check your website on the iPhone with this free app.
Update: The page renders very simply and unattractively on the iphone and I have chosen to opt for a simpler regular theme instead of using this plugin.
